The Roebuck situated in High Peak in the Peak District is experiencing a new lease of life following an investment of more than £164,000 with National Pub Company, Punch.

The pub, which is now run by Karen and Ian Rains has undergone substantial redevelopment to the bar, lounge and ladies and gent’s facilities, as well as a full external re-decoration and new signage scheme. The new look pub now boasts new furniture, lighting and fixtures and fittings.

The Roebuck opened on Friday 10th February with vocal trio, The Acoustix entertaining customers with a range of pop and rock songs, followed by local guitarist and vocalist Mike Simpson, who played on Saturday 11th to continue the opening celebrations.

As well as the traditional interior design, the pub also plans to hold beer festivals in the spring and have a regular rotating cask ale offer, where customers can choose what comes next.

Karen, licensee of the Roebuck, who has also worked in it for the past eight years, said “I have always wanted to take the Roebuck on as my own. We looked at other pubs but there was always something not quite right. When the Roebuck came around, the timing was perfect and I decided to take the leap with a lot of encouragement from our regular customers.

“We have lots of exciting plans for the future, we will be launching a new tasty menu at Easter and we would like to increase our B&B business for customers looking to travel to the beautiful countryside, we are in the Peak District so it’s a prime spot for walkers and holiday makers looking to enjoy the fresh air”.

Punch Development Manager, John Auld added: “We’re delighted to invest in sites such as this. Karen and Ian have some great plans, Karen knows her local customers very well following the eight years she’s worked here and I am sure the pub will be very successful. I look forward to supporting Karen and Ian and wish them the very best of luck”.
