Furness Vale will switch on to the festive season in time honoured fashion with carols, coffee and mince pies.

Make a note in your diary: Thursday November 30 is the night when young and old are invited to gather round the village Christmas tree at the Soldier Dick pub on the A6 Buxton Road, ready for the official lighting by the town council chairman, Councillor Rodney Gilmore, at 7pm. Goyt Valley Brass Band will play suitably season music and children from Furness Vale primary school will sing carols.

You are welcome to go along to the Community Centre on Yeardsley Lane, to enjoy a coffee and mince pie. A collection will be taken in aid of High Peak Hospicecare.
