Saturday 25th November is this year’s New Mills Christmas lights switch on, market and fair which over the years has become a key event in the High Peak’s run up to Christmas. It manages to retain a traditional look and feel, attracting thousands of family visitors each year.

The family orientated event focuses around both the Town Hall with the traditional switching on of the Christmas Tree lights with brass bands, carol singing, and festive fun linked in with an evening of indulgence in the town centre.

New Mills Christmas

2017 will be no different with a huge festive market filling Market Street and Torr Top Street with dozens of stalls with traditional Christmas gifts and local produce not forgetting a feast of festive food and drink with a strong local focus.  Local shops will be staying open late as will New Mills Indoor Market.

Whilst indulging in a shopping and eating spree you can be entertained by funfair rides, barrel organ and stilt walkers, alongside visits from the ‘Snow Queen’ and Pantomime favourites from New Mills Art Theatre.

The evening starts at 5:00pm with the Christmas lights being switched on at 6:30pm followed by an evening of street music, song and dance with festive fun a plenty for all the family.
