Hulme Hall Grammar School has been named as one of the top 58 schools in England for its Music Department.

The Stockport school has been awarded the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) Trust Gold Award that recognises the excellent work achieved by the Music department and its high GCSE results.

Said Headteacher, Rachael Allen, “We are delighted to have been recognised by the ISM.  Music is an integral part of our school and something that we encourage all our students to try.

Those that choose to continue it at GCSE level have a firm foundation and a real love of music that is evident with the results they achieve.”

The award celebrates the fact that 20% of all GCSE students at Key Stage 4 took and achieved an A*-C in music in the last academic year.

The Head of Music, Anne Bevan, is delighted.  She commented, “It is so rewarding to nurture a love of music and see my students flourish.  With all the pressures that children face nowadays, we as a school want to ensure that the Arts are not overlooked.”

The independent school offers tutoring in guitars, drums, brass, woodwind, strings, piano and singing alongside curriculum lessons and gives children the opportunity to perform throughout the year.
