High Peak Cider Pub of the Year

A Marple pub has been named as the High Peak Cider Pub of the Year - for the second year running.

The Samuel Oldknow in Market Street has already received various accolades but Anthony Meynell and Billy Booth, who run the pub together, say they are delighted to receive this award for two years on the trot.

Billy said: "We have only recently found out and had a certificate presentation a couple of weeks ago. The award is made by the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) organisation.''

The pub is well known for its choice of real ciders and also offers a selection of fruit ciders as an introduction to this popular drink.

The Samuel Oldknow is also featured in the latest Good Beer Guide.

Billy said: "Anthony and I have been running the pub for a couple of years and things are going really well for us. We have lots of loyal customers with new people visiting us all the time.''

Recently the pub took part in a CAMRA organised bus pub crawl which called at a number of pubs across the local area.
