On Saturday 10th November the annual joint concert of Marple and Hawk Green took place at St Pauls Church in Compstall to help raise funds for the Brass Bands of Marple and for St Pauls Church. This has been a venue for this event for several years and this year was an extra special event as the bands played music to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. The church had also been undertaking major renovations and has been transformed into an even better venue for this concert.

Earlier this year, the long-standing amateur choir, the Hayfield Singers, celebrated their 25th anniversary by performing a rendition of Handel’s iconic piece from 1741, The Messiah.
