Back in 2017 a group of Marple gardening enthusiasts got together to discuss organising an Open Gardens in Marple event, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

On hearing the shocking news that her sister-in-law, Mel, had been diagnosed with inoperable brain tumours, Lynsey Robinson, a 38-year-old Marple mum, felt that she needed to do something to raise money and awareness for Macmillan and Cancer Research UK. These two charities work tirelessly to support and relieve cancer sufferers and to seek a cure for this disease that affects so many people.
